Phnom Penh÷Le Bokor Palace is located on the top of Bokor Mountain in Kampot Province.We had to continue by car for almost an hour from the ridge to the top of the mountain.
Outside the hotel grounds, the weather is cold and the strong winds bring cold.The hotel room is tidy, there is no air conditioning, the restaurant is luxurious but very quiet.
Vimean Bokor Hotel has a history of construction and operation since the French Protectorate in 1925. At that time, the French chose a location on the top of Bokor Mountain to build a building for French officials, dignitaries in the aristocracy, Khmer foreigners to visit and relax. The road to the top of the mountain was built in the early 1900s by a large number of prisoners. During the Indochina War from 1945 to 1954, the 38-room building became a hospital. In 1962, during the Sangkum Reastr Niyum era, the building was converted into a casino, but in 1964 it was closed due to a series of suicides due to gambling. In 1969, Norodom Sihanouk made a film here. In 1972, Khmer Rouge soldiers seized the building from General Lon Nol, who staged a coup d’état to overthrow Sihanouk in 1970. After the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime of Democratic Kampuchea, Pol Pot collapsed on the walls of buildings with blood stains almost everywhere. It was not until 1990 that the Khmer Rouge surrendered and handed over the building to the Cambodian government for development. Apart from that, there are many miracles and strange things related to wildlife. The question for me is what is a “Silhouette” ???
