Samdech Hun Sen Receives New German Ambassador

Phnom Penh÷The Prime Minister of Cambodia Samdech Techo Hun Sen on Monday morning, October 10, 2022, received German Ambassador to Cambodia Stefan Anton Messerer.
Stephen Enton Messerre has been appointed by the German government as Ambassador to Cambodia, replacing the outgoing Christian Berger. Mr. Stephen Anton Messerer recently visited Cambodia.

To further strengthen relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Germany, the new German Ambassador has invited leaders from the nation’s top institutions as well as ministries.
The Ambassador expressed his high commitment to contribute to improving relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Germany.
Germany is a country that has contributed a lot to the development of Cambodia after recovering from the flames of war. For the past 28 years, Germany has supported Cambodia’s socio-economic development in the areas of demining, education, culture, good governance, rural development, energy, social protection and decentralization, contributing significantly to poverty reduction in Cambodia.

As for the economic sector, the two countries continue to enjoy strong and growing trade relations, while Germany is Cambodia’s largest export market among EU member states, with bilateral trade volume exceeding $ 1 billion in In recent years.
According to a report by the Council for the Development of Cambodia, by 2021, Germany has provided about $ 670 million in grants, equivalent to about 2.6 percent of the total aid provided by development partners to Cambodia.
