The ASEAN-IPA face-to-face meeting, held at each ASEAN Summit, is the highest-level official meeting of ASEAN and IPA to strengthen and expand cooperation between the two institutions and to deepen discussions on ASEAN affairs in ASEAN. At all levels, in the sense that the common goal of ASEAN is peace, stability and sustainable development goals, with the acceleration and promotion of achieving an ASEAN community and preparing for future ASEAN expansion.

The first ASEAN-IPA Leaders’ Meeting was first held at the 14th ASEAN Summit in 2009 in Hua Hin, Thailand, under the initiative of the IPA and ASEAN Member States.
