Samdech Techo Hun Sen and ASEAN Leaders Meet with ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly

On the afternoon of November 10, 2022, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and President of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the leaders of the ASEAN Member States, attended a meeting with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA-AIPA). ) Held at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh.
At this meeting, Samdech Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, led a high-level parliamentary delegation of IPA member countries to attend a face-to-face meeting with ASEAN leaders.
The ASEAN-IPA face-to-face meeting, held at each ASEAN Summit, is the highest-level official meeting of ASEAN and IPA to strengthen and expand cooperation between the two institutions and to deepen discussions on ASEAN affairs in ASEAN. At all levels, in the sense that the common goal of ASEAN is peace, stability and sustainable development goals, with the acceleration and promotion of achieving an ASEAN community and preparing for future ASEAN expansion.

The first ASEAN-IPA Leaders’ Meeting was first held at the 14th ASEAN Summit in 2009 in Hua Hin, Thailand, under the initiative of the IPA and ASEAN Member States. Since then, the meeting has been held 10 times, the last time in 2020 in Hanoi, Vietnam by virtual system (video). This year is the 11th meeting of the Cambodian Parliament to organize and chair this face-to-face meeting between ASEAN and IPA.
