Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng Participates in the Opening Ceremony of the ASEAN Mayors ‘Forum and the 2022 ASEAN Capital and Capital Governors’ Meeting

Phnom Penh: This morning, December 2, 2022, Samdech Krala Hom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Governors’ Forum and the 2022 ASEAN Capital and Capital Governors Meeting under the high presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena. The ceremony was held at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh.

The opening ceremony of the ASEAN Mayors’ Forum (AMF) under the theme “Strengthening ASEAN Cooperation through Promoting the Building of Smart, Resilient and Sustainable, Innovative and Environmentally Friendly New Pathways” and Meeting ASEAN Governors and Capitals (MGMAC) under the theme “Promoting Comprehensive Cooperation for Smart, Sustainable and Sustainable Cities” which has been disrupted for the past two years due to the Kovid Outbreak. 19.

On that occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the Prime Minister, highly appreciated the identification of the most appropriate topics in line with the current regional and global situation. In fact, the city is the heart of each country and region, a gathering place for all aspects of socio-economic, cultural and political activities. In this sense, socio-economic development and building a strong, sustainable and environmentally friendly community must start from building and connecting smart, resilient and sustainable cities.

In addition, Samdech Techo Prime Minister was pleased to observe the excellent progress of cooperation in building and connecting major cities in the ASEAN region. In fact, the ASEAN Governors ‘Forum and the ASEAN Capital and Capital Governors’ Meetings, which are held regularly, are important mechanisms that allow ASEAN local administrations to enhance relations and promote greater cooperation, especially the sharing of knowledge and experience. Continue to strengthen solidarity and harmonization between ASEAN capitals and capitals.

Samdech Techo added that Cambodia, as the rotating chair of ASEAN, has set the theme “ASEAN works together: solve all challenges together”, which aims to jointly address ASEAN challenges, as well as strengthen globalization and promote the achievement of Agenda for regional integration under the ASEAN Vision 2025.
