Phnom Penh: His Excellency Dr. Aun Porn Moniroth, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, has issued seven additional recommendations to the National Committee for Management and Development of Community-Based Tourism and Ecotourism to implement successfully. His Excellency the General Secretary said this on the evening of November 22, 2022, on the occasion that he was the High Representative of Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia, closing the “Third National Ecotourism Forum” at the Garden City Hotel. . The forum was attended by His Excellency Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the National Committee for Management and Development of Community-Based Tourism and Ecotourism (NCCC), His Excellency Say Sam Al, Minister of Environment, as well as many stakeholders. .
Before reaching the key recommendations of His Excellency Dr. Aun Porn Moniroth, Dr. Thong Khon also made a report on the results of the 3rd National Ecotourism Forum as follows:
* Cambodia is internationally recognized for its community-based and ecotourism work, especially within the ASEAN framework, through the implementation of a community-based tourism development model in the form of a Public-Private-People Partnership (4Ps). Power to the people, the community, maximize the benefits to the grassroots, reduce poverty and adhere to the principles of sustainability and responsibility in accordance with the concept of “conservation serves development, development serves to preserve” and in accordance with the principle of sharing benefits. On this basis, the Royal Government approved the implementation of a roadmap on the plan to rehabilitate and promote Cambodia’s tourism sector in and after the Kovid-19 crisis on March 30, 2021, in which the ecotourism sub-sector is a pillar. Second, congratulations on the cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment in identifying national priority ecotourism sites, which will be an important basis for promoting the development of tourism and ecotourism activities in the region.
